2019! WoW! It's true what they say; the days long, but the years are short. And as is tradition, it's that time of year for reflection. I was going through and cleaning up some of my blogs and realized I didn't have anything that told about me. And is/has become tradition in today's world, it's all about ME, right? (joking...)
Anyway, here's a short run-down:
THE PERSON BEHIND THE LENS
Age: 41
Favorite Color(s): Green & Purple
Favorite Movie: Princess Bride
Favorite Food: anything I don't have to cook
Weakness: Dr. Pepper and Benji movies (I cry every time)
Best Memories: I have a LOT of favorite memories scattered throughout my life, but the one constant is my family. I'm super close to my parents and brother, and now my husband and kiddos. The best parts of my life include at least one, if not all, of these people.
Random Facts: I love sports. My Dad is/was a coach, so guess I was pre-destined. I played all sports in high school; basketball, golf, tennis, softball, track, & cross country. I was offered a full ride to college on a track scholarship, but I actually hate track, so I went on a partial basketball scholarship to a school in Oklahoma. I'm a home team fan, and love the Dallas Mavericks (MFFL!), the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.
I met my husband in March of 2000, and knew immediately that he was "the one." We were married in 2004, and added our first kiddo in 2006, a second in 2008, and our youngest in 2012. They all keep me on my toes, and make life crazy at time, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Our secret to life is laughter, and there is definitely PLENTY of it in this household.
MY CAREER PATH
Since I can remember, I have loved working with children. I also come from a line of teachers, so it was natural for me to pursue teaching as my first job. I taught 5th grade for 6 years, and was a Reading Specialist for 4 years working with both students and other teachers. Photography has alway been a hobby, and even as far back as middle school (so long ago there was NO DIGITAL CAMERAS), I usually had a camera and rolls of film on me. My high school graduation gift was my first "real" camera and a lens. For the most part I photographed nature landscapes, florals, and architecture.
For Mother's Day in 2009, my husband and kids gave me my first "real" digital camera. At that point, I turned to portrait photography (usually my kiddos), and research and learned everything I could about photography. I began building a business, and in 2015 was able to make photography my full-time job. Since then, I have opened my studio and now specialize in maternity portraits through the first year of baby's life. I still shoot the occasional wedding, a senior session here and there, but my true love are those little babies.
I enjoy creating unique images, and helping parents design custom, heirloom art work that they will proudly display and pass down throughout the years.
I would love to meet you and help you design the perfect portrait session for yourself, your little one, or your family. I offer complimentary consultations where we can sit down and go over all your options to really get you the most from your investment.
